Screenwriting
Amy wants everyone to know that we’ve all got superpowers—we can all be superheroes. It’s not just in the movies.
An Indian immigrant living near Toronto, Canada, Amy writes grounded sci-fi and action stories about characters who can (literally and figuratively) leap tall buildings and kick some serious butt. Having grown up in a traditionally gender-restrictive household but surrounded by Western liberalities, her characters’ inward and outward journeys reflect her own life experiences of smashing through oppressive cultural boundaries, battling back from a near-fatal accident and conquering villainous personal demons.
Amy’s dances with the devil give rise to characters who are searching for more existentially, making them, at times, ethically flawed and “fluid.” Her female-driven stories blur the lines of morality and explore the concept of power—getting it, wielding it, and choosing it over humanity.
Writing for the screen is not a standalone art—it’s informed by the acting, the physical environment, and a million other inputs. Amy has also studied and worked in supporting disciplines, such as set decorating and production design, as well as acting.
In the end, it’s all storytelling.
